Cherry Nut Cake 

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 teasp. soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
15 cherries, cut up
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts 

Sift flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and soda together, three times. Place in bowl, add eggs, shortening and milk, mixing just enough to blend. Fold in cherries, vanilla and nuts. Bake at 350 F. For 25 minutes.
