Classic American Pound Cake 

1 cup butter,softened
1/4 tsp. mace
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
3 cups sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
3 cups flour
Confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp.salt
Fresh strawberries or blueberries for garnish 

Cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and mace. Stir well. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix just until blended after each addition. Stir in extracts.  Pour batter into greased and floured 12 cup bundt or 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 f. For 1 hour and 35 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Let cool completely on wire rack. Dust with confectioners sugar. Garnish with strawberries or blueberries.
