Cloud Nine Icing 

2/3 cup vegetable shortening
1/3 cup soft margarine
2 cups confectioners sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine shortening and margarine. Allow it to come to room temperature, then beat for 5 minutes. Add sugar 1/2 cup at a time, beating 2 minutes after each addition. Blend in extract and beat until sugar is fully dissolved.  The secret of this icing is to use the best grades of margarine and shortening, and no liquid except the vanilla.
