Confetti Cake
2 cups sifted cake flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. baking powder 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup shortening 3/4 cup milk 2 eggs, unbeaten 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup multi colored nonpareils
Heat oven to 350 F. Greast and lightly flower two 8 inch pans. In large bowl, sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar. Drop in shortening, pour in milk. With mixer at low speed, beat 2 minutes, scraping as needed. Drop in eggs. Pour in vanilla, beat 2 minutes. Sprinkle baller with nonpareeils, then, with spoon, gently fold them in. Quickly turn batter into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 40 minutes. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from pans, finish cooling on racks. Fill and frost with favorite frosting.
