Nutmeg Cake

2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 cups flour
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp. Soda
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts 

With fingers blend brown sugar, flour and shortening into crumbs. Put half the crumbs into prepared 9 inch square pan. To remaining crumbs, add egg, nutmeg, and sour cream mixed with soda. Pour batter over crumbs and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake 350 F. For 35 to 40 minutes.
