Poor Mans Cake 

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. soda
2 cups water
1 cup raisins
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
Nuts if desired 

Put sugar, spices, 1 tsp. Soda, raisins, margarine, water and cocoa in pot and bring to a boil. Cook and stir 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in flour and 1 tsp. Soda, sifted together. Bake in prepared loaf pans 1 hour at 300 F.
