Pumpkin Cake 

1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup cooked, pureed pumpkin
1 tbsp. baking powder
3 cups flour 

Sift flour and spices. Mix milk and pumpkin, add soda. Cream shortening and sugar. Add flour and milk mixtures alternately to creamed mixture. Bake in loaf or layer pans. Loaf pans 55 minutes, layers 25 minutes, at 350 F.
